Subaru’s Commitment to the Environment

May 7th, 2023 by

Here at Centennial of Subaru, we encourage our drivers to explore and adventure beyond the city limits. Subaru understands that loving the environment means more than just simply enjoying it. This is why the Subaru Love the Earth Initiative was born. This initiative was designed to help protect our environment and preserve the great outdoors.

Subaru Loves the Earth

A Positive Change

There are many facets to the Love the Earth initiative, which is dedicated to creating a globally positive impact. Our partnerships demonstrate our commitment to minimizing waste and protecting natural resources. When you take a deeper look at the initiatives, they can be broken down into three main categories which include;

Exploring the Outdoors: This includes helping people feel more welcome in parks. Subaru is working to create programs that promote broader access to national parks with a focus on multicultural and multigenerational families.

The Future of Parks: Subaru is backing the innovation and technology that will be implemented in parks to help really promote the use of environmentally conscious vehicles in and around parks among other amazing technological advances.

Resilience and Sustainability: Subaru is financing the improvement of environmental stewardship in national parks by expanding waste reduction, recycling, and visitor education.

National Park Partnership

Subaru is collaborating with the National Park Conservation Association to reduce waste through the Don’t Feed the Landfills Initiative. The program focuses on three national parks and has diverted more than 17 million pounds of waste from landfills in seven years. In 2021, the program helped Yosemite, Grand Teton, and Denali to divert food waste, save gallons of water, and save landfill space, respectively. The program has saved the National Park Service and its partners over $1 million in waste costs. Subaru and Centennial Subaru have teamed up with the National Forest Foundation to restore and reforest public national forests impacted by severe wildfires. Over 1,000,000 trees have been planted in national forests in California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington since 2019.

Dealerships with Environmental Awareness

Subaru launched the Eco-Friendly Retailer Program ten years ago to promote environmental sustainability in its dealerships across the country. Over a third of Subaru retailers, including Centennial Subaru, have been certified as Eco-Friendly by adhering to specific requirements in energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, waste management, and community involvement. Subaru also partners with TerraCycle® to recycle challenging plastic waste, resulting in over 8 million pieces of trash being recycled through the Subaru Loves the Earth initiative. You may notice Zero Waste Boxes™ at Subaru locations.
