Centennial SUBARU hosted a bicycle ”Think. Ride. Remember” training ride for “3 Feet for Pete,” a Southern Nevada memorial event in honor of Pete Makowski, who was killed in 2013 when he was struck from behind by a gravel truck while on a training ride. His teammates from the Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air cycling team created “3 Feet for Pete” in remembrance of Pete and to support cycling safety. The training ride is a quarterly event, with the next one scheduled for July 1. Some 75 cyclists started at Centennial SUBARU, 6350 Centennial Center Blvd., in the northwest part of the valley and headed north on the 215 Beltway bike path, then turned west on West Charleston Boulevard. After ascending a couple tough hills, the riders turned around on Charleston Boulevard and headed back to the dealership. Two Cat Coffee turned out to serve coffee to the riders. “As a major corporate partner of the “Ride to Remember” in October, Centennial SUBARU contributed $10,000 for the fall ride,” General Manager Ryon Walters said. “Centennial SUBARU supports any and all efforts to increase road safety in Southern Nevada.” “SUBARU is known for the design and safety features built into its vehicles,” Ryon added. “Centennial SUBARU has numerous employees who are already engaged in competitive and recreational cycling, so the opportunity to partner with Ride to Remember on quarterly events was ideal. Given the location of our store and customer demographics, we hope the community will join us for events that are not only educational, but fun while promoting a healthy lifestyle.” Tony Gebbia, who runs the “3 Feet for Pete” safety campaign, was presented with a $10,000 check from Centennial SUBARU.

Love Promise Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada Team members from Centennial SUBARU recently toured The Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada, Donald W. Reynolds Club, located at 2980 Robindale Road, Henderson, NV, and quickly identified several opportunities our Love Promise program could support the development of youth at this facility. The Boys & Girls Clubs fill the gap between school and home. Clubs provide welcoming, positive environments where kids and teenagers have fun, participate in life-changing programs and build supportive relationships with peers and caring adults. SUBARU Loves Learning fits perfectly with the Club’s Education Program, designed to complement and reinforce what youth learn during the school day. SUBARU’s goal to make the pursuit of knowledge available to as many minds as possible will help the Club create experiences that invite kids to fall in love with learning. SUBARU Loves to Care will augment the Club’s Health and Wellness programs that develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors, nurture well-being, set personal goals and grow into self-sufficient adults. “We identified several other opportunities Centennial SUBARU volunteers can help at this Boys & Girls Club in such areas as athletics, arts and music, computer labs, youth character development and in occasional advisory capacities,” General Manager Ryon Walters said. “We are excited for this opportunity to work with the Boys & Girls Clubs through our SUBARU Love Promise initiative.”
