Subaru Love Promise - Heart Hands Around the Subaru Logo

Subaru’s tagline “More than a Car Company” is not just marketing jargon. The company is truly trying to improve things in our country through a variety of channels. Those efforts have been recognized by Forbes in their announcement that Subaru of America was named one of the 10 Best Brands for Social Impact. Subaru is also the top brand on the list of brands in the automotive category.

This marks the inaugural list of this kind for Forbes. They partnered with the business consulting firm HundredX and together surveyed more than 100,000 consumers who ranked brands they rated most highly in these four categories:

  • Overall brand values and trust
  • Social stances
  • Sustainability
  • Community support.

The survey results included close to four million ratings, with over 2,000 brands being mentioned. What emerged are brands that are the most admired among the public for doing good across sectors such as the environment, social issues, and supporting their local communities. Subaru placed among the top six brands in all four of the above categories.

“Giving back is at the core of everything we do at Subaru, and it exemplifies our efforts to be more than a car company, and we’re honored to be recognized for that work,” said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Subaru of America, Inc. “The causes that we invest in and partner with are very close to our hearts, and we take pride in our passion for helping others.”

Steadily Fulfilling The Subaru Love Promise

Both Subaru and its retailers are guided in its efforts by the Subaru Love Promise; a five-pronged commitment to pursue programs that make the world a better place. The five directions include:

  • Subaru Loves the Earth
  • Subaru Loves Learning
  • Subaru Loves Pets
  • Subaru Loves to Help
  • Subaru Loves to Care

Subaru partners with numerous national and local organizations that are dedicated to these pursuits. Some of the best-known partners include The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®), Make-A-Wish®, Meals on Wheels America, and the National Park Foundation. But Subaru partners with many smaller organizations doing work regionally, often identifying these partners through their dealerships.

The Forbes survey feedback indicated that respondents are aware of and appreciate what the automaker does for good causes on both a national and local scale. Subaru encourages its retailers to partner with it in these efforts through contributions, volunteer work, and identifying local needs. Centennial Subaru has received the 2023 Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment Award, which recognizes Subaru retailers for their involvement in the Subaru Love Promise programs and causes in their local communities.
